While most bands are busy coloring the world with their emotions, Max Miller uses his music to explore its edges and depths, in a profound search for life’s meaning- or lack there of. In between existential rants and musings, he may sometimes recall some unfinished business with a hookup of summer’s past, but for the most part he would rather walk the tightrope between the real world and the dream world than hold your hand.
Max makes his statement of intent clear on Music Doesn’t Exist. Drawing inspiration from Jean-Paul Sartre’s Nausea, Miller questions various facets of everyday existence over the course of 10 songs. Mixing together elements ranging from acoustic alternative rock to dubstep, Miller pulls the listener into dark, paranoid, sonic realm which one might have trouble finding their way out of.
Claiming that music doesn’t exist is a heavy statement. Give the album a listen and see if it leaves you convinced.
